Cafe Espresso, Alwoodley, Leeds

Date of visit: 14th April 2025

Number of Paw Points: 10/10 – am a regular visitor here. You are given the warmest of welcomes and treated like old friends. Special menus for kids and dogs.

Me and my humans often like to have a walk to Alwoodley. We have a little routine. When we arrive at Alwoodley Green I have a little play in the stream and if the green is dry we have a game of fetch. Talking of Fetch, that’s the name of the lovely independent pet shop over the road from Alwoodley Green and we often call in there for a load of fuss and a treat. My humans may even treat me to a pigs ear or a cookie if i’m good!

Around the corner from Fetch is a little gem of a cafe – Cafe Espresso. It’s one of those places that is always warm and welcoming. There is outdoor space when the weather is good and well behaved dogs are welcome inside too. The decor inside is really cosy with nice lighting that makes for a relaxed atomosphere.

The owners are Greek and mum says they make the most amazing humous and toasted pitta which is so much more delicious that the supermarket stuff. They have a breakfast/brunch and lunch menu that contains some Greek dishes. It’s a varied menu and everything is fresh and cooked from scratch. They sell the most delicious cakes too!

On this particular visit, I fully deserved a treat from the cafe as I had just been to the dog groomers. I got toast with cream cheese and it was delicious! The humans always love their food from here too. Dad heartily recommends the breakfast sandwiches and mum usually goes for a panini or wrap always served with a salad and Greek salad dressing with olives.

Enzo Suggests…

if you’re coming as a group, Cafe Espresso is quite small so it might be a good idea to reserve a table.
